HP, Itanium 프로세서의 데이터 보전성 결함 경고




Inquirer에 의하면, 인텔의 주요 파트너인 휴렛팩커드사는 그들의 고객에게 Itanium 프로세서
에 대한 결함에 얽힌 문제에 대해 언급했다고 전했다.



비록 인텔사가 8월 14일, 이러한 문제에 대한 세부 결함을 공개 했지만, HP사는 첫번째 Merced 
Itanium의 문제에 대해 고객들에게 언급했다.



이 문제는 Merced를 사용하고 있는 시스템에서 데이터 보전성의 결함을 일으킬 수 있다는 것
으로, 이러한 문제를 가지는 제품은 HP rx4610, rx9610, i2000 그리고 HP(컴팩) ProLiant DL590/64 제품
이다.



HP에 의하면, Itanium 2 프로세서가 사용된 rx2600, rx5670, zx2000 그리고 zx6000 시스템에선 이러한 
문제가 발생되지 않는다고 전했다.



마지막으로 HP사는 이러한 문제는 HP에만 국한 되는 것이 아니며, 이를 사용한 시스템에선 
같은 증상을 보일 수 있다고 전하고, 이를 사용중인 고개들은 Hp Itanium 센터의 상담을 권한
다고 전했다.

CLOSE INTEL partner Hewlett Packard told its customers over the weekend of a problem with a bug (erratum) on the Itanium
 processor.

Although Intel actually posted the bug details on August 14th, HP has just told its customers about the problem, with th
e first Merced Itanium.

In a notice to customers, HP said the problem can cause data integrity problems on systems using the Merced.

The servers it affects include the HP rx4610, the rx9610, and the i2000, and also the HP (Compaq) ProLiant DL590/64.

HP said that the problem doesn't occur with Itanium 2 chips included in its rx2600, rx5670, the zx2000 and zx6000. Nor, 
said HP, does it happen on any PA-RISC, Alpha or "other" Intel processors.

HP said: "This issue is not unique to HP".

It added: "There is a very low probability that customers will encounter problems due to this error. The problem has not
 been seen or reported by any HP customer. However, because HP is strongly committed to delivering high quality products
, HP is diligently workingwith Intel to develop an update to the affected processor. These updated processors will be di
stributed in a kit from HP in January 2003."

The firm said that kits should be ordered as early as possible and advises customers to contact their HP Itanium Centers
 of Expertise.
