: 저장한 후에 grub-intstall /dev/hdb1 했습니다. 아무 에러 없이 고쳐
: 졌다고 메시지가 뜨더군요.

: 하고는 응답이 없습니다. 새로 컴파일해 준 커널 때문인지 싶어 이제는 
: 새 커널 이미지 부분을 완전히 주석 처리하고 다시 grub-install에

  저도 grub을 사용합니다.
커널 컴팔 후 menu.lst를 수정 하죠. 님과 같은 방법으로요...
근데 grub은 menu.lst만 수정하면 다음 부팅에서 알아서 인식합니다.
grub-intstall을 할 필요가 없죠..
아마도 grub-intstall 때문에 초기화되는 것 같네요..--이 곳에 서명을 적어주십시오.
