  김프에서는 배경이 투명한 이미지를 쉽게 만들 수 있습니다.
 1) 투명한 레이어위에서 이미지 작업을 하신 후에요...
2) 레이어를 합치고...
3) Alt + I를 누르거나 이미지 창 메뉴의 [이미지] - [모드] - [인덱스됨]을 적용하시고...
4) GIF 나 PNG 파일 포맷으로 저장하시면 됩니다.
  투명하게 만들고 싶은 부분의 색상을 선택해 삭제하신 후에 저장하면 됩니다.
 그리고 gimp FAQ:
 How do I fill with transparent?
If your image doesn't have an alpha channel, add one with Layers->Add Alpha Channel. Select the area you want to clear (
if not the whole image). To change everything of a particular color transparent, pick Select->By Color... and click on t
he color in the image you want to replace. Then select Edit->Clear. That's it.  Any dithering, blurring, or related effe
cts against the color you replace will be against the original color. This usually requires you to do some form of clean
up of the edge pixels. In cases likely to result in this, change the color to transparent as early as reasonably possibl
